48 - James Herbert ( Book )

48 is set in an alternative timeline where on the edge of losing the war the Nazi's drop dirty bombs which kill everyone except the very rare "ab" blood type.
Cue for millions of dead decaying bodies everywhere.
Crazy evangelists who believe that a blood transfusion from those unaffected will save their lives.
An unlikely hero, who just doesn't want to be a hero but gets dragged into the whole bloody mess anyway.
A dead and destroyed London, an ever depressing reminder of the horrors of warfare.

This time Herbert explores the horrors of the real kind that mankind can do to each other in an armaggeddon world.
Classic Herbert, fast paced story telling and relentless until the end.

If you like any past James Herbert novels you will not be disappointed and very hard to put down with a very satisfying ending.

While The Savage Sleeps - Andrew E Kaufman

Well where do i begin...The best words to describe this book are Wow,Wow,Wow.
I can't express enough how Andrew captures you and catapults you into the middle of this story.
The plot is fantasticly woven together and you are drawn in from page 1 right until the end.
The story has you guessing all the way through as to what's going on and even with plenty of clues from the author you are still nowhere near what you thought was right.
Everything just feels right, the feeling of the sleepy little town in the middle of nowhere and the depth to all the characters involved just add to the excellence of this book.
You can tell that this author puts his heart and soul into the story when you read up on the type of research he endured in order to make the factual elements of the story as real as possible.
This is his first book and if the rest of his work lives up to this standard then he is soon to have a lot of very happy reading fans around the world demanding more and more......and i will happily be one of those voices.

Land Of Nod : The Artifact - Gary Hoover ( Book )

I have literally just finished this and have got to say I was impressed.

Initially i would say that the writing style is more aimed towards Young Adults but at 44 i still thoroughly enjoyed the story.
If you think along the lines of Harry Potter or The Hobbit, but it's a scifi story

The story follows a young boy (14) who, in search of his father, ends up in a parallel universe and gets involved in a battle between three races who live there.
Two races are human and the third is reptillian.

We don't get to see much of the reptillian race but we know they are not happy with their lot and are about to start a war with some new technology they have acquired.

The appearance of Jeff ( the 14 yr old) in this new world is foretold in a prophecy but the question is, is Jeff the character of the prophecy or not and will he be able to stop the war !!!

You can tell by the ending ( and the fact that the next three chapters (teaser) are awaiting you for the next book) that there is more to come and I for one, will be looking forward for the next installment.

There were very few ( 2-3 ) minor spelling errors I spotted which is quite refreshing as many other books have a lot more besides.
So if you're looking for an easy read and a good little story to kill a day or so then you can't go wrong with this one....

Eldren : The Book Of The Dark - William Meikle ( Book )

This is my first book of William Meikles and it won't be my last.
It was a nice change to have a good old fashioned "hammer horror" or "Dracula" type vampire. Cruel, deadly and cool all at the same time. Along with the "Van Helsing" type vampire hunter and the victims who stand up and fight back too. Now as i have mentioned before i also like the "friendly " vamps and they are here too in a good old fashioned good evil versus bad evil. That's all on the plus side....
Now I will say that for the first half of the book i was never initially grabbed by the story or the characters and wasn't too bothered if I had to put the book down to do some task or go to work. By the second half I was glued and found myself caring more about the characters and whether they lived or not and got annoyed when i had to put the book down and was looking forward to picking it up again. I like my stories to have more defined chapters, rather than lines and i like some of the chapters to have cliff hangers that make you wait to see what's going to happen. There wasn't much of this to start with which is why it probably felt a litte slow at the beginning, at least to me.
But i beg anyone to hang in and you won't be disappointed.
There were a few mistypes ( if instead of of etc) but nothing compared to many books here on the kindle.
If there's a sequel to this i would be interested in it.
A great vampire story and looking forward to some more works from this author.

Inhuman - Danielle Q Lee ( Book )

Well this is the first book i have read of Danielle Q Lee's and I only bought it as it sounded Ok, was sent to me in my recommended list by Amazon and it was only 69p.
I found the whole story well written, no silly spelling or grammatical errors, which is common in the cheaper books here on Kindle and totally un-putdownable ( is that a real word )
The story explores what would happen if your government were to find out that you were not considered human on a genetical level and how easily they could take your life and existence away from you.
Before i bought my kindle i stuck only to certain authors that I new i would enjoy because of the expense in buying paperbacks etc etc.
I love the fact that i can now try out new authors for low amounts of cash.
I will now be looking out for other books by Danielle and would be happy if they were only half as good as inhuman.

Get it today......You will not be disappointed

I am Number Four ( Book )

I first saw this at the cinema and enjoyed the film, then in the credits saw that it was based on this book by Pittacus Lore.

I immediately searched and downloaded it to my kindle. i fully enjoyed the book and am now eagerly awaiting the sequels that are to come but have to admit that i struggled to inititially get used to the writers style.
I found the descriptive text of the book seemed quite robotic and minimilistic in content whereas the dialogue between the characters was fine and normal sounding.
But like i said once you get used to this the book is a very enjoyable read.

I won't go into the actual storyline here as it's been mentioned a few times in other reviews but the one thing that tickled me a little is that the Author has written himself into the story as one of the characters to the background of the story. Priceless.
